From the dawn of time, or at least since the evolution of the printing press, media has been the most instrumental carrier of information to the general public. We used to get them on paper, we then saw it on television, and we now can catch a glimpse right on our phone. And it is exactly with this arrival of the new, unique digital media, that the question arises, as to, what is more effective? What medium gets information across the table more conveniently and more holistically? Personally, to be very straightforward, I would confide in digital media, and here is why.
You can be anywhere to receive news updates, you don’t needed to seated on a coffee table with paper in hand, as is the norm, and apart from the blatant fact of how convenient it is, with you not having to lug around huge sheets of paper, digital media is much more happening, and you get the latest of updates, not having to wait until the next day to know your surroundings. With the help of technology today, you can locate articles within seconds without turning back numerous pages, and not only is digital media better for the environment, but it is more coherent which would lead to catering to a reader’s interests, and proving more accessible, much more than the traditional newspaper.
These are a handful of the innumerable reasons why one third of big media houses in the US have had layoffs in the last two years, metro papers such as the Rocky Mountain News and Seattle Post Intelligencer have disappeared, and why other houses, have quick wittedly started their own forums on the internet, ensuring that their viewership doesn’t decrease.
Papering over the fact that online news portals don’t come with a price tag like the newspapers, major advantages digital media poses, apart from its coherence and convenience, include its plethora of opinions, the various topics it covers, and the timeliness, all, at a much higher level than the regular print media.
But these are just a few of the benefits digital media offers to the readers. The story of media houses, as well though, goes on to strengthen my point of view, arguing why the effectiveness of digital media, has helped bring down its competitor.
Noting that an incredible 97% of media companies surveyed believe that the digital transformation has disrupted their sector, we can only come to a conclusion that in the future that we see, digital media is the norm. With 50% of media outlets since 2003 also having layoffs, one can only assume that they are moving into the digital age, creating forums and website to display more effective news pieces.
With digital media being the realm for high sources of income and revenue, not to mention advertisements, media houses are running to the world of things to precisely target certain demographics, advertise profusely, and also, pay less for the advertising, while earning a lot more. The age of digitalization thus poses quite a huge threat to the traditional media industry and “legacy” houses or even other media houses, will need to adapt in order to cater to the younger generation, and the future, to not only ensure that they don’t go out of business, but to ensure that they thrive in the futuristic world that we live in, ensuring coherent, timely, and informative news articles, available to all.

Small companies can easily advertise on digital media platforms because it is cheaper than print media. Newspaper ad revenues in the U.S. fell by 12% in 2016, while American magazine ad revenues dropped by 9%. 10 years ago, newspaper advertising represented $43 billion and magazine ads were at $19 billion. Digital revenue in the US surpassed $100 billion for the first time in 2018. Adobe earned a quarterly revenue of $3.13 billion, of which digital media made up for $2.23 billion.
According to Forbes Digital News is way better considering it is cheaper for advertisers to reach their consumers. If any business reaches out to a big digital media company, they will have huge sales for a very measly price. Digital subscribers are also more likely to say they were hitting the maximum amount of content they could get for free (29 percent vs. 12 percent).
There are some articles that people save and want to refer to after a few days, weeks, or even years. If this article is in a physical newspaper, saving multiple of them would take space. And then finding one article, in the multiple pages of multiple newspapers takes an unreasonable amount of time. On the contrary, if you're on an online platform, you could just type in a keyword or two and you’d have the specific article or even the specific paragraph in seconds.
To Conclude, Digital news is better than Print News since it is available to a larger group of people, has more impact on problems today and is able to be accessed easily and published with speed as well. Therefore, I

believe that Digital News is better since it is easier, more impactful and saves time for people.
